WISE UP WORKSHOPS
C.A.S.E. (Centre for
Adoption Support and Education) is coming to Australia
in July 2010 to run the following workshops:
Talking to young
children about adoption
Friday 23 July, 2010
7:30pm
Wenona School, 176 Walker Street North
Sydney NSW
Cost: $35.00 per person
This is their most requested workshop for both
pre-adoption and post-adoption parents! This
workshop will teach parents what children understand
and think about adoption as they grow, how to
share their adoption story and how to encourage
children to comfortably share their questions,
thoughts and feelings. Time will be available
to address specific questions and concerns.
W.I.S.E. Up!
Saturday 24 & Sunday 25 July (session
times to be confirmed)
Wenona School, 176 Walker Street North
Sydney NSW
Cost:$45.00 per person (Parent
workshop)
$45.00
per child (Child workshops)
$25.00
Course Material (required)
Geared for ages 6-12, this workshop provides
adopted children with the tools to handle
comments and questions about adoption. W.I.S.E.
Up! gives children (teens and parents, too!)
the power to choose how to talk about adoption
with others! Children need W.I.S.E.
Up! when they begin to be asked questions
about adoption and their adoption story. For
children in transracial or transcultural
families, that may begin as early as age
3 (“Why don’t you look like your
mom?”) and for others, it may not begin
until ages 6, 7, or 8, when their friends
may begin to be curious about their adoptive
family (“Why were you adopted?”).
There will also be a parents WISE Up so that
you can learn the program and help your child
with it.
